Horse Rider

This is a 4-week class that includes a riding lesson (about 40 minutes) as well as care of the horse and tack.  By completing these four classes, Scouts meet the requirements of the  Girl Scout Horse Rider Badge. 

Week 1: Saddling my horse Clips, Combs, and More
Getting Ready to Ride—
     Use of tack
     Halter, hitch, and knot
In Good Form—
     Mount/Dismount
     Walk/Whoa/Turn
Week 2: Equipment Expert—
     Bridles
     Saddles
In Good Form—
     Leg cues
     Walk/Whoa/Turn
Circling the barrel
Week 3: Horse Anatomy
In Good Form—
     Trot/Turn/Whoa
Week 4: Horses, Safety, and You
In Good Form—
     Trot/Turn/Whoa

This program is usually held on Saturdays, but we can sometimes accommodate troops during the week.
