I Love Horses

New this year...Brownie Girl Scouts

Learning about bridles

I Love Horses (formerly called Short Stirrups) is designed for Brownie Girl Scouts.  This one and one-half hour  hands-on session teaches the fundamentals of horses and includes a mini lesson on the horse.

The girls are divided into small groups.  Each group is assigned a horse that they will measure, weigh and groom.  Each girl will be given the opportunity to ride a horse on lead line in either an English or Western saddle.  If time permits the girls may select a second ride using the saddle they did not ride in previously.  The ride/lesson is one trip around the arena.

Each girl will receive a patch that can be worn on the back of her sash/vest when she completes the following:

    Safety First

        * Horses are "prey" animals and how to be safe around them

        * How to give a treat to a horse
