Frequently Asked Questions Q: What is your registration fee? A: There is no registration fee for any of our programs. Our registration process is:
Q: What if my child misses a lesson? Do I still have to pay? A: The cost for riding is paid monthly based on four scheduled riding classes a month. If there is a holiday on your child's ride day, the cost is reduced by one ride. If you miss because of illness or other commitments, your can reschedule the missed class any time within two weeks of the missed class. If there are five scheduled riding classes in that month, you still only pay for four classes. Q: I have an able-bodied child who would like to take riding lessons also. Do I have to come on two different days/times? A: No. When ever possible, we will allow siblings to ride together. As the rider's skill level improves, you will be given the option of moving that rider to a different class. Q: Your horses are pony-size. Does this mean that adults cannot ride? A: No. Even though they appear short, these horses can easily accommodate an adult up to 175 pounds. We have two that can handle a 200 pound adult. Also, because they are a draft type, a six-foot person does not "look" like he or she is riding a pony. Q: Do you teach persons in the Therapeutic Riding sessions how to ride or are they just led around on the horse? A: Every rider is taught how to ride to the best of his or her ability. We have a 16-level progressive, instructional riding plan that takes the rider from learning how to mount and hold the reins to advanced riding. We discuss with the rider (and parents when applicable) the goals of the rider and chart their progress on a quarterly basis. Q: When does your next session begin? A: Even though we chart our riding progress on quarterly basis, our program is ongoing. Any rider can join our program at any time, all year round. You decide how many classes you would like to take or have your rider participate in. Discuss extended vacations (more than two weeks) or time needed for therapy at a distant facility with the instructor so you don't lose your riding spot. Q: Will I be asked to participate in fund-raisers? A: Our programs are self-sufficient through our class fees and the items we sell on-line. We do not hold fund-raisers during the year. This gives our staff the time they need to focus on the riding program. |
