Riding lesson Volunteer As a Riding Lesson Volunteer, you will be working directly with our riders. We always need people who enjoy working with horses and watching riders grow. Each rider in our Program can require up to three volunteers; one leading the horse and two walking along side the rider. Other volunteers help by:
Lead—this person is responsible for the horse. The Lead helps guide the horse in the arena. A Lead must be at least 16 years old (14 with verifiable horse experience). Side walker—the Side walker walks along side of the horse next to the rider. The Side walkers are responsible for the rider. This person will offer encouragement to the rider as well as assistance, when necessary. A Side walker must be at least 16 years old (14 with verifiable horse experience). Assistants—Assistants are responsible for the set-up of the arena and grooming the horses. These volunteers make sure that the horse is ready for the rider. An Assistant must be at least 12 years old. Training classes are held on the first Sunday of each month at 11:00 for persons who would like to volunteer. We can also schedule a training session on a weekday evening, if Sunday is not convenient. If you are interested, please complete the Volunteer Information form and we will contact you. Or send us an e-mail. |
