Cadette Girl Scouts riding at Pretty Pony Pastures

Cadette Scouts

Both of these two-hour badges were designed by Sycamore Hills Girl Scout Council in Tennessee. Still hands-on, these activities take on a more intense look at the care and management of horses.

Your troop can choose the Discovery: Horses or Trail Rider. If there is a specific topic your troop is interested in, we can work to accomodate your request

Discovery: Horses

The topics for this session are:

  • Your approach
  • Groomed to perfection
  • Recognizing illness
  • Careers with horses
  • No hoof, no horse
  • Fun and games on horseback

Trail Rider

The topics for this session are:

  • Handling 1000 pounds
  • Groom for trail or show
  • Chuck Wagon
  • What a bit is
  • Proper leg wraps
  • Navigate a trail class

The cost of this program is $30 per rider. The minimum number of riders for a session is six. We can accomodate troops of up to 12 riders. We ask that larger troops divide into two groups.

A deposit of $60.00 is required to hold your date. For more information or to schedule your troop, we can be contacted by email or call 248.634.7276.

Scout groups can be scheduled throughout the year on Saturday at 2:30 pm and select weekday mornings or afternoons during the summer.

Please check our on-line calendar for availability.
