Junior Girl Scouts earning their badge at Pretty Pony Pastures

Junior Scouts

 

We offer two 2-hour programs for Junior Scouts. Horseback Riding and Hands on Harses. Horseback Riding includes activities for the Girl Scout badge for Junior Scouts.

 

 

Horseback Riding

This is the GSUSA Horseback Riding for Juniors badge. The topics include:

  • Learn horse safety and care
  • Groom for health and beauty
  • English vs. Western tack
  • What to wear (and cost)
  • Do I need a diet?
  • Let's Ride!

Hands on Horses

For Juniors who want more horse activities. The topics are:

  • Horse behavior
  • Starts with a "G"
  • Care and cleaning of tack
  • Horse conformation
  • Genetically speaking
  • Riding out!

 

The cost of this program is $35 per rider. The minimum number of riders for a session is six. We can accomodate troops of up to 12 riders. We ask that larger troops divide into two groups.

A deposit of $70.00 is required to hold your date. For more information or to schedule your troop, contact us by email or call 248.634.7276.

 

* The Junior Horseback Riding Badge is an additional charge and can be purchased at the time of the event.

Scout groups can be scheduled throughout the year on Saturday 2:00 pm or 4:00 pm.
Please check our on-line calendar for availability.
How to dress -
Riders are expected to wear long pants and a boot with a small, 1/2" heel.
 
Leaders, parents, and other guests should dress for the weather AND wear sneakers or boots.
 
Helmets are provided. Riders may use their own ASTM/SEI certified helmets. Bicycle, roller blading, or other sport helmets are not acceptable.

 

Participants must have a Liabilty Release form on file to participate in this event.

 

Ms. Linda, owner and instructor, is a Lifetime Member of Girl Scouts and holds a Masters Degree in Education.
